Residence permit was the generic term for the forms of residence permit in Germany listed in Section 5 of the Aliens Act:
In the Residence Act , which has been in force in Germany since January 1, 2005 and replaces the Aliens Act, the generic term residence permit has been replaced by the term residence permit (legal term from the asylum and aliens law of the European Union).
