Support effect (vehicle technology)

In vehicle technology, the support effect refers to the lifting of the vehicle body when cornering with high lateral acceleration . The wheel on the outside of the bend compresses less than the inside of the bend. In addition to the tendency to roll, this results in a lifting of the vehicle body, it is "supported". The support effect is based on the effect that the mechanism of the wheel suspension directly absorbs part of the tire forces. H. transfers to the vehicle body without the aid of the spring forces. It is particularly pronounced in independent wheel suspensions with a high roll center , e.g. B. the swing axle .
