Auger de Balben (also Otogerius , Augerius Balbensis , Rogerus Balben ) († 1162 in Jerusalem ) was the third Grand Master of the Order of St. John .

After the death of Grand Master Raymond du Puy , Auger was elected as his successor. Like his predecessor, he probably came from Provence .

Auger successfully contributed to peace between church and state by uniting the Church of Palestine and Pope Alexander III. against antipope Viktor IV. (Octavian) supported. After King Baldwin III. Death in 1162, he prevented a civil war with his diplomatic intervention when his brother Amalrich I ascended the throne.

Under his rule and that of his two successors, the Order established branches in Spain.

He died in Jerusalem in 1162 and was buried there. His successor was Arnaud de Comps .
