Heinrich Jochem

Heinrich Jochem (born February 21, 1898 in Klein Schardau , Stuhm district ; † May 21, 1978 ) was a German trade unionist and social democratic politician.

Jochem was a miner and joined the free miners' union and the SPD in 1919 . Later he was a full-time union secretary in Oberhausen .

After the Second World War , from 1946 to 1952, he was second chairman of the SPD district of Niederrhein. In addition, Jochem was a member of the main board of IG Bergbau und Energie from 1947 to 1952 . In Oberhausen, Jochem was the SPD parliamentary group leader in the city council from 1946 to 1956. In 1946 and 1947 he was a member of the appointed state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and then until 1966 elected member of the state parliament .

A square in Oberhausen is named after Jochem.
