Augsburg model

The Augsburg model - originally launched in 1986 by the Association for German Shepherd Dogs based in Augsburg - is a form of dog training for all dogs (not just dogs of a certain breed) to become family and companion dogs . It is offered in dog clubs (membership is not required) for dogs from 12 months of age.

The Augsburg model is the basis for further training, as it teaches the dog what is known as being on a leash (running freely when the leash is slack) and the commands to sit, stand, stand and stay.

The Augsburg model also trains the dog owner in daily handling of his dog and teaches an understanding of his behavior, characteristics and needs.

Dog driving license

In some federal states, cities and municipalities, obedience tests or companion dog tests based on the Augsburg model are recognized as a dog driving license , for example in order to obtain a keeper's license, an exemption of the dog from the obligation to leash or a reduction in the dog tax. However, there are no uniform regulations or uniform standards.
