August Assmann

August Assmann (* 1819 in Breslau ; † April 25, 1898 in Breslau) was a German entomologist who specialized in butterflies and Schnabelkerfe .

He was a lithographer in Breslau and assistant at the Zoological Museum in Breslau and published about butterfly finds in the area of ​​Constantinople and Silesia and also about insect finds from the Tertiary (Miocene clay deposit in Schlossnitz, Oligocene lignite in Naumburg am Bober).

His collection is at the Natural History Museum in Wroclaw. He was editor of the journal for entomology of the Association for Silesian Entomology in Breslau (1847 to 1856).
