August Eiebakke
August Eiebakke (born April 25, 1867 in Askim , † July 21, 1938 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian painter.
August Eiebakke came to Kristiania in 1883 , where he attended the Royal Art School. At the same time he took lessons from Christian Krohg and Eilif Peterssen . He made his debut at the fall exhibition in 1887, where he gained recognition for his naturalistic descriptions of the people. In 1890 he painted Anretning ( National Museum Oslo ).
In 1891 and 1896 August Eiebakke was a student with Kristian Zahrtmann in Copenhagen . In 1892 he traveled to Paris and in 1893 and 1895 to Italy . Influenced by Italy, he began to paint religious pictures and altarpieces in a neo-romantic style, such as: B. Kristus tager Afsked med de 11 Apostle 1900/1901. But he returned to his earlier naturalistic formal language.
1910–37 he was a teacher at the håndverks ~ og kunstindustriskole in Oslo.
