August Gotthilf Naumann

August Gotthilf Naumann (* 1732 in Berlin ; † June 27, 1794 there ) was a German court architect in Berlin.

Life

August Gotthilf Naumann was the son of the court mason Christian August Naumann and Catharina Naumann nee. Höpertin and was baptized on December 1, 1732 in St. Petrikirche in Berlin. From his father he received thorough instruction in the practical aspects of the building trade, so that from 1756 he was able to work as a conductor and from 1757 as a building inspector at the Kurmärkische Kammer. In 1765 he became war and domain councilor and vice-building director. In 1770 he was appointed senior building officer and senior building director to the newly founded building department . In 1786 he was appointed to the Secret War Council.

  • Christian August Emanuel (* approx. 1768; † 1843), royal Prussia. Chamber judge and Privy Postal Councilor
  • Wilhelmine Marie Elisabeth Wegener b. Naumann (born June 23, 1770; † August 13, 1799), wife of the theologian and student friend of Humboldt , Wilhelm Gabriel Wegener (born March 10, 1767; † November 16, 1837)

He lived in a house at 25 Jägerstrasse.

Works

  • Palais Itzig , Berlin (1762–1763) Reconstruction and expansion of older buildings. Was demolished for the construction of the stock exchange , which was destroyed in World War II. Today the Spree-Palais is located there.
  • New construction of the courtyard-side longitudinal building (1777) of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory (former Dorville's house) in Leipziger Strasse. Not available anymore. Today the location of the German Federal Council.
  • Reconstruction of the Georgenkirche , Berlin (1779–1780), the 3rd version (1894–1898) of which was destroyed in the Second World War.
  • New construction of the parish church in Küstrin (completed in 1786). Not available anymore.
