After the establishment of the independent state of Latvia , Loeber became one of the most active supporters of the young republic. While other Baltic Germans were hostile to the Latvian nation-state and were perceived by Latvian politics as uninvited foreigners, Loeber's mission was welcomed in Latvia. As a Senator of Latvia, Loeber was a member of the Supreme Court and defined the international and private law position in numerous legal opinions.

August Loeber was the father of the Ostrechtler Dietrich A. Loeber .
