August Nörmiger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

August Nörmiger (* around 1560 in Dresden ; † 1613 there ) was a German composer and organist .

August (and sometimes Augustus) Nörmiger was court organist in Dresden. Our most important source for his musical work is a handwritten piano book in German organ tablature , the so-called “tablature book on the instruments”, which he compiled in 1598 for the Electress Sophie von Sachsen . This collection is probably a not inconsiderable part of the restoration of older sources. In doing so, however, Nörmiger gives no indication of the material he used.
