August Prost ( June 18, 1852 in Schandau - after 1902) was a German theater actor , opera singer , opera director , singing teacher and acting teacher.
Life
The son of a master blacksmith was trained in Dresden by opera singer Richter and Professor Cosmari. In 1874 he took the stage at the Dresden Residenztheater for the first time, came to Augsburg in 1875, to Stettin in 1877, to Freiburg in 1879, to Schwerin in 1881 and to the Leipzig City Theater in 1882 , where he worked until at least 1902.
Prost was an extraordinarily versatile performer and one of the most useful members of the Leipzig stage. He actually represented every subject, was successful in both comic and serious roles, welcomed in drama and comedy, in opera and operetta, and did not expect anything more than he was really able to do. He had a sense of humor and a disposition, a clear, intelligent presentation and a sense of art.
In addition to his performance as an actor, he also acted as a director of operas and operettas and devoted himself to teaching drama.
On July 1, 1889, he was appointed teacher at the royal. Conservatory of Music in Leipzig .
