August Schlueter (politician)

August Schlüter (* 1825 in Nordkirchen ; † May 20, 1908 ) was a German lawyer and local politician.

After working in Haltern, Schlüter came to Dülmen with his wife Louise, née Morsbach, in 1862 and settled there as a lawyer and notary. Shortly thereafter, he joined the city's magistrate and was deputy mayor as an alderman from 1867 to 1908.

He carried the honorary title of Privy Councilor of Justice . On the occasion of his 50th anniversary in his career, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Dülmen in 1897. He died childless. His grave is on the Mühlenweg cemetery in Dülmen.

A street was named after him in the northeastern city center. Schlüter is the uncle of the landscape painter August Schlüter .
