Auguste Bracht

Auguste Bracht (born July 17, 1875 in Oerlinghausen ; † May 30, 1939 in Bielefeld ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Bracht was the daughter of a bricklayer. She worked as a laundry seamstress in Oerlinghausen, was active in the trade union and was a cashier and chairwoman of the local laundry workers' association.

With the introduction of women's suffrage in the state of Lippe , she ran for the SPD in the state elections in January 1919 and was elected as the first female member of the Lippe state parliament, to which she belonged in the first electoral term.
