Closing script of the Dresden manuscript of history

Augustin von Hammerstetten (* probably before 1450 in Lauingen ; † after 1500) was the author of the prose poem History vom hirs with the guldin ghurn and the princess vom pronnen (dated 1496). The only known tradition is the manuscript Mscr. M 279 of the SLUB Dresden .

Augustin von Hammerstetten, whose family named themselves after the town of the same name Hammerstetten (today the municipality of Kammeltal ) near Günzburg , appears, among other things, as a mercenary, Württemberg chancellor and notary. For a while he lived in Switzerland.

He was married to a Barbara vom Graben.

Additions to the Gothaer handwriting chart. B 271 ( Heinrich der Teichner and others), which he gave the Saxon Elector Friedrich the Wise and his brother Johannes the Constant as a New Year's present on a joint visit to Vienna at the end of 1497, show him as a literary connoisseur.
