Augustine-Malvina Blanchecotte
Augustine-Malvina Blanchecotte , b. Souville (* 1830 in Paris ; † 1897 there ) was a French poet.
Life
Blanchecotte comes from a simple Parisian artisan family. She married the tailor Blanchecotte at a very young age, from whom she also learned this trade. Many interests they formed self-taught on and working at the peak of their "career" in the accounting department of a Paris fashion house.
At the age of 26, she made her successful debut in 1856 with her poetry anthology Rêves et realités . Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve called Blanchecotte an "ouvrière-poëte" and praised it very much in his literary reviews and feature articles.
The Académie française awarded her the Prix Montyon (after Jean-Baptiste Auget de Montyon ) and Alphonse Lemerre included her poems in the later famous anthology Le Parnasse contemporain .
