Germershausen Monastery

The Augustinian monastery Germershausen was an Augustinian monastery in the village of Germershausen in the district of Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony .

history

After the Capuchins left, the Augustinian monastery was founded in Germershausen in 1864. The monastery has a chapel and a monastery garden. In addition to taking care of the pilgrimage in Germershausen, the school education of the children in northern Eichsfeld should be promoted. After the first students were accepted from 1888, the monastery school was founded in 1905. Due to the increase in the number of students, the monastery school was expanded in 1929. In 1970 the monastery school was closed. In 1995 a new building for the monastery was erected in the monastery garden.

In 2019 the last of the Augustinians left Germershausen and the monastery was given up. The further use of the monastery building is still open.

Educational institution

In 1972 the former convent school became the St. Martin educational institution . Among other things, courses for families and holiday camps for children are offered. In 2000 extensive renovation work was carried out and in 2010 the Augustinians withdrew from the management of the educational establishment.
