Augustos Zerlendis
Augustos Zerlendis (born November 5, 1886 in Egypt ; † 1954 ; Greek Αύγουστος Ζερλέντης Avgoustos Zerlendis , also Avgoustos Zerlentis ) was a Greek tennis player of the 1920s.
Career
Zerlendis took part in the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp , but was eliminated in his first game against Gordon Lowe . At the Olympic Games in Paris four years later he reached the third round in singles, in which he was defeated by the Italian Umberto De Morpurgo in three sets. In the doubles competition, he was also able to advance into the third round alongside Pantelis Papadopoulos .
Zerlendis appeared several times from 1920 to 1929 at the Wimbledon Championships . In 1920 he achieved his best result there by reaching the round of 16 in the individual. He also represented his country in the Davis Cup from 1927 to 1931 and won nine out of 18 games.
