Anniversary brochure 15 years Aukruger Weg

The Aukruger Weg is the first nationwide concept of biotope and landscape maintenance serving nature conservation without state regulations. This voluntary nature protection concept replaces the designation of a state-prescribed landscape protection area (LSG) in the Aukrug Nature Park . The concept is considered to be trend-setting for nature conservation without regulatory law - the term Aukruger Weg is now used as a synonym for the voluntary and regional organization of nature conservation.

Conception

For the implementation, the Naturschutzring Aukrug eV was founded in 2001 with the help of the Kurt and Erika Schrobach Foundation . Through this amalgamation of different nature conservation associations, the different interests of the land users in the region are brought together and an effective nature and water protection is guaranteed. The nature protection ring is the sponsor of the Aukrug nature and water protection project, which was launched in 2004 and is dedicated to the preservation of species-rich habitats in the Aukrug Nature Park and has since been known as the Aukruger Weg . Since the goals of the project coincide with the goals and obligations of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the nature conservation ring receives the funds necessary for implementation from the state. The responsibility for fulfilling the country's obligations has been transferred to the regional actors from agriculture, nature conservation, municipalities, tourism and trade, who implement the requirements agreed in the project on site.

The species protection catalog, which has existed since 2007, includes measures that are implemented in the form of contractual nature conservation measures by landowners on site on private land in a three-year trial phase. While local alliances have so far mainly implemented regionally oriented nature conservation projects in different natural areas, the Aukrug species conservation catalog contributes to the direct implementation of the state's obligations in relation to the European nature conservation guidelines within the framework of the Natura 2000 nature conservation network .
