Aulus Fabius Proculus

Aulus Fabius Proculus (full name form Aulus Fabius Auli [filius Papiria?] Proculus ) was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

An inscription on a tombstone found near Tusculum and dated 101/200 shows that Proculus was prefect of a Cohors I Da [] . The inscription also shows that he was then a tribunus militum in the Legio II Adiutrix .

Proculus was possibly inscribed in the tribe of Papiria . The tombstone was erected by his wife, Lucceia Nepotilla .

Remarks

  1. John Spaul lists Proculus among the commanders in both the Cohors I Aelia Dacorum and the Cohors I Dalmatarum . The reading of the EDCS is praef (ecto) coh (ortis) I Da [corum] .
