Aurélie Nemours

Aurélie Nemours (born October 29, 1910 in Paris ; † January 27, 2005 there ) was a French painter .
She studied archeology at the École du Louvre and was a student of the cubist painter and art theorist André Lhote and the cubist and constructivist painter and graphic artist Fernand Léger .
Nemours mainly created abstract geometric works. She became known for her series "Rythme du millimètre" ("Rhythm of the millimeter") and for her geometric play with the contrasting colors black and white.
In 1994 she received the “Grand Prix National de la Peinture” and in 2004 the Center George Pompidou in Paris showed a large retrospective entitled “rythme-nombre-couleur” (rhythm-number-color).
Aurélie Nemours was 94 years old.
