Aurich Science Days

The Aurich Science Days - “Forum of a Third Culture” are a series of lectures that have been held annually in the East Frisian town of Aurich since 1990 .

history

In 1990, the technical high school of the vocational schools II Aurich organized the first Aurich Science Days in cooperation with the Jülich Research Center under the motto “Responsibility in Science and Technology”. The event has been held in cooperation with the Ulricianum Aurich grammar school since 1992 . In 1995 Georg Bednorz was the first Nobel Prize winner to speak at the Science Days. He was followed by Heinrich Rohrer in 2006 and Bert Sakmann in 2017 . Around 400 visitors came to the 22nd Science Days in 2012, which was opened by the then Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, David McAllister .

Conception

The objective is the open dialogue between the humanities and the natural sciences, the so-called third culture. A broad and knowledgeable discussion of science, technology and their consequences requires a supra-regional or international consensus. The speakers are professors, scientists and Nobel Prize winners from Germany.
