Aurox Linux was the most famous Linux distribution from Poland . Aurox is licensed under GPL . The development of Aurox Linux was stopped at the end of October 2006, a continuation by the company Coba Solutions, which set up the distribution, did not come about. As a successor, however, the distribution Jazz Linux was started by some developers .
concept
Aurox Linux was originally based on Fedora , but brought many of its own components and its own kernel . The distribution was developed in Poland and appeared quarterly as a magazine of the Polish Linux + magazine with the current version and a number of additional software on 7 CDs , 1 DVD and additional tips, the current version was also available for free download with a reduced scope in the form of ISO - Images available. It supported most of the European languages. The last version was Aurox 12 from September 2006.
The aim of the project was to create a distribution that is specially tailored to European requirements. In addition, great importance was attached to compatibility with notebooks , so that all important technologies were supported, such as ACPI or W-LAN . Aurox Linux was also one of the few distributions that made it possible to play CSS -encrypted video DVDs without installing additional programs or codecs.
