Expansion of the Nuremberg – Passau line

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The upgraded Nuremberg – Passau line is a project to expand the Nuremberg – Regensburg and Regensburg – Passau railway lines .

history

The expansion project was newly included in Stage I of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 1980 . It was planned to re-route in sections, an additional track in some areas and new signaling equipment.

The project was part of the planning block of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 1985 . The investment costs were put at 150 million DM at the price level in 1983. The planning was described as "essentially dependent on coordination with plans in neighboring European countries". The plans were dependent on the considerations of the Austrian Federal Railways regarding their network expansion. Investigations were carried out around 1992 on the upgraded line, on the basis of which a decision was to be made about the measures.

In the 1992 Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan , the project was included in the cross-border projects category . In the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2003 , the project is included in the International Projects category with investment costs of 200 million euros .

On November 22, 1999, the transport ministers of Germany and Austria signed an agreement to improve the performance of the cross-border railway lines in the Danube corridor Passau / Salzburg. As a measure on the German side, the expansion of the railway line from Nuremberg to the state border near Passau is planned.

At the end of 2008, Deutsche Bahn AG launched the immediate seaport-hinterland traffic program , which - independent of the planned Nuremberg – Passau expansion line - includes three smaller expansion measures on the Nuremberg – Passau line. From this, the shortening of the block distances from Regensburg to Passau as well as the increase of the passage speed in the main station Regensburg were realized by the end of 2012; the construction of laterally correct overtaking tracks in Parsberg is still pending.

According to the 2011 Transport Investment Report, the economic assessment of the Nuremberg – Passau expansion line is still pending.

In March 2013 the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology registered the upgraded Nuremberg – Passau line with the Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Urban Development for the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 . The project was included in the urgent needs of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 . Third tracks are planned between Feucht and Neumarkt as well as between Regensburg main station and Obertraubling, block compaction between Neumarkt and Regensburg and Obertraubling and Plattling.
