Ausonius stone

The Ausoniusstein is a lookout point in Lehmen on the Terrassenmosel . The name is reminiscent of the poet and prince tutor Decimus Magnus Ausonius (310–393), who described the Moselle landscape in his Mosella in 371 . It is a cliff jutting out into the valley at 227 m above sea ​​level . From there you have delightful views of the Moselle valley and the towns of Oberfell , Alken with Thurant Castle , Brodenbach and Kattenes . There is a refuge nearby.

The Ausoniusstein is the namesake for the surrounding nature reserve Ausoniusstein and one of the four vineyards in Lehmen .
