Oberleis observation tower

The Oberleis observation tower is a 23-meter-high, timber-framed observation tower on the Oberleiser Berg near Ernstbrunn . It was built in 1970 and expanded in 1986 with a showroom that illustrates the archaeological research in this area .

General

The tower was built in 1970. There is an archaeological exhibition on the ground floor. There is very likely a Germanic royal seat on the plateau.

Outside, an open-air museum shows the floor plans of various historical buildings from the Celtic and Roman times.

When the view is clear, the Carpathian Mountains , the Rax , the Schneeberg and the Pollau Mountains can be seen from the observation tower . The observation tower also has directional antennae on its roof.
