Exhibition center for the archeology of the Emsland

The exhibition center for the archeology of the Emsland is an archaeological museum in Meppen in Lower Saxony , Germany . It shows the cultural history of the Emsland region from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages . Since 1996 the museum has been housed in a modern new building within a classical building complex at the coupling lock.

The permanent exhibition illustrates the prehistory and early history of the Emsland with finds , models and drawings. The most important research results of Neolithic house construction, Bronze and Iron Age material culture and burial customs up to the settlement system of the Roman Empire are shown . Museum educational offers for children and school classes and changing special exhibitions complete the exhibition.
