The Austral Islands (or Austral Iceland ) is a small island in the archipelago of the Windmill Islands off the Budd Coast of the East Antarctic Wilke country . It is located in the southernmost corner of Penney Bay .
The island can be seen on aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947), but is not recorded on maps that were created using these aerial photographs. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it so because it is the southernmost of the Windmill Islands.
