Austrian Testing Board

The Austrian Testing Board (ATB) is the official representation of the "International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB)" for Austria. The ATB was founded in Vienna in 2002 and has the ZVR number 145111700 in the central register of associations .

Recognized test experts from the private sector and science ensure that the teaching and examination content for the SW tester job description is defined and continuously updated. The work in the ATB is voluntary. In addition, the ATB is currently the only authorized ISTQB agency in Austria and has hired a certified personnel certification organization ( iSQI ) to carry out the certification tests .

The ATB is a non-profit association in its organizational structure.
The seat is in Kaltenleutzüge in Austria . The president of the association has been since 2003: Helmut Pichler. Other board members are Johannes Bergsmann (Deputy President), Dr. Mohsen Ekssir (Deputy President), Karl Kemminger (Secretary), Martin Klonk (Deputy Secretary), Andreas Günther (Treasurer), Andra Calancea (Deputy Treasurer).

The association defines itself as an independent, neutral body and represents the ISTQB in Austria as a national board.

Activities of the ATB

The aim of the association is to work with other regional testing boards within the framework of the ISTQB to organize a globally standardized training program for the "ISTQB Certified Tester" and organize regular meetings of the test expert community in Austria to share experiences across companies. Specific tasks are:

  • Definition of curricula
  • Definition of exam questions
  • Accreditation of training providers
  • Participation in the working groups of the ISTQB
  • Close cooperation with the German Testing Board and the Swiss Testing Board to provide all ISTQB documents in German
  • Development of a profession "software tester"
  • Development of an independent, cross-company and cross-sector network for test and quality experts

In addition, the ATB organizes specific events and creates regular newsletters (ATB Insider).
