Authentication gateway

An authentication gateway ( English gateway authentication or authentication gateway service , AGS ) a network service, which is the authentication of a client enabled via various authentication provider. The user can decide which of the supported authentication providers he would like to use to log in. An authentication gateway supports a federated identity .

The integration of the external authentication provider can take place via a connection with them that is secured by means of encryption . Alternatively, a redirection to a login page of the corresponding provider can take place, which issues the client with a signed token when the login is successful , which the authentication gateway can check.

The authentication gateway can also be used to implement single sign-on (SSO) and single sign-out (SSO).
