Motorway chapel "Light on the way"
The ecumenical motorway chapel "Licht auf dem Weg" is located at the Kassel Mitte motorway junction ( A 7 / A 49 ) on the premises of the Lohfeldener Rüssel truck stop. It was built according to plans by the architect Gerhard Greiner (HHS office, Kassel) and inaugurated on October 23, 2009. The chapel is open day and night.
The cube-shaped building made of exposed concrete has a floor area of 5 × 5 meters and a height of 5.5 meters. The high entrance door corresponds to the height of the interior. In the chapel there is a cross-shaped stele made of Brazilian sandstone and the writing around the wall: AND SEE: I AM WITH YOU EVERY DAY - JESUS CHRIST.
Cooperation partners were the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck , the diocese of Fulda and, as a private sponsor, Heinz Fehr.
