history
In 1890 Matthias Holzmair founded a horse haulage business in Munich and organized the first city tours and excursions. In 1907 Rudolf Schoenecker senior also used the first motorized bus for sightseeing tours, which, after a brief but fierce competition, led to the founding of the United Munich Tourist Tours in 1909 . From this, the Munich City Tours oHG , which still exists today , and the Motorwagen-Gesellschaft Oberbayern developed .
The Motorwagen-Gesellschaft Oberbayern, today's AutobusOberbayern GmbH, was founded in 1927 by Max Holzmair and Rudolf Schoenecker. In 1930 the travel agency and the tour operator Nord-Süd Reisen were added, which organized bus, train and boat trips.
After the company was broken up in the Third Reich , it was rebuilt by its founders Max Holzmair and Rudolf Schoenecker. In 1986 INS-Reisen , the joint tour operator of AutobusOberbayern and Isaria Reisen , was founded. Another name change took place in 1999 to teambus - Die Münchner Busreisen . In 1998 AutobusOberbayern took over the A. Schranner bus company . In 2006 49% of the shares in A. Schranner were sold to Stadtwerke München and the company's name was changed to Münchner Linien GmbH & Co. KG . In 2003, AutobusOberbayern took over the Sareiter bus company in Bad Wiessee , which was integrated into the AutobusOberbayern group of companies in 2006 . In 2014 AutobusOberbayern took over the VBR - Verkehrsbetriebe und Servicegesellschaft mbH Munich .
Business areas
In total, the company provides over fifty public buses and around 120 employees for the Munich transport company , making it the largest partner of MVG. The company also runs regular long-distance services for FlixBus Munich - Prague - Munich. AutobusOberbayern is also active at Munich Airport , for example for the ramp direct service and crew traffic of many large airlines. AutobusOberbayern independently operates the Lufthansa Express Bus , which runs every 15 minutes from Munich Central Station via the Nordfriedhof to the airport. The Oberbayern bus service also includes the Munich ski bus, which runs several times a week from the Munich central bus station to the mountains. The subsidiary Münchner Linien has been operating the bathing bus from Lochhausen to Langwieder See since 2009 . Autobus Oberbayern owns around 300 buses and employs 800 people. The buses have twelve to 79 seats. The company has a vintage bus (Setra S6), three VIP buses , a Setra S517HD with 1 + 1 seating, a Mercedes-Benz Travego with a lounge in the back and a Neoplan Cityliner.
