Automatic Freaszy Crew

The Automatic Freaszy Crew was a breakdance formation active in East Berlin , Leipzig and Dessau in the 1980s . Together with the Zulu Boyz , they are considered to be pioneers of hip-hop in the GDR .

Until the political change in 1989, the formation was observed by the Ministry of State Security . The GDR officials called them a reflection of decadent and imperialist subculture. After the fall of the Wall, the Automatic Freaszy Crew also appears in the west. In 2007 and 2008 an ARD documentary and an exhibition about the Automatic Freaszy Crew were created.
