The Automechanica Moreni is a Romanian defense contractor based in Moreni establishes that priority wheeled military vehicles. It operates under the umbrella of the state armaments company ROMARM .

Company history

The company was founded in 1968 and produced four-wheeled 4 × 4, 6 × 6 and 8 × 8 wheeled armored vehicles, primarily for the Romanian armed forces. Initially, the license production of Soviet models took place, such as the BTR-60 , for which the production permit could be obtained in 1970, from which the Romanian TAB-71 emerged . In the younger phase of the company, I developed my own designs. After the fall of communism in Romania, the company ran into economic difficulties, production figures fell dramatically, as did the number of employees. Automecanica Moreni has been part of ROMARM since 2001 . According to the company, around 15,000 vehicles have been manufactured since the company was founded, and Automecanica Moreni is currently the only military vehicle manufacturer in Romania.
