Komi Autonomous Oblast

The Autonomous Oblast of the Komi (Syrian) ( Russian Автономная область Коми (Зырян) / Autonomnaja Oblast Komi (Syrjan)) was an administrative unit of the Russian SFSR , located in the northeastern part of European Russia. It existed from 1921 to 1936. The capital was Ust-Syssolsk (renamed Syktywkar in 1930).

history

The oblast was formed in 1921 from parts of the Arkhangelsk and Northern Dvina governorates . In 1929 it was placed under the Northern Krai . Due to the constitution of 1936 , the Komi ASSR was formed from the Autonomous Oblast of the Komi (Syrianen) and subordinated directly to the Russian SFSR.

In the first Soviet census in 1926, 207,314 inhabitants were counted on 434,150 km² (0.47 / km²). The population consisted of over 92% Syrian people . 6% were Russian and around 3% lived in cities. The capital Ust-Syssolsk had 5,068 inhabitants.

  • Ust-Wymski
  • Ust-Kulomski
  • Ust-Syssolski (renamed Syssolski in 1926)
