Autophony
Autophony describes an unusually loud hearing of the body's own noises, especially one's own voice.
Possible causes:
- Open or gaping tube ( Eustachi tube ), through which the voice and also the breath sounds are transmitted into the middle ear .
- Conductive hearing loss such as otitis media ( otitis media ), otosclerosis or the like.
- Semicircular canal dehiscence , which can lead to abnormally increased bone conduction. This often leads to hyperacusis , whereby not only your own voice, but also typically heartbeat, skeletal noises (e.g. when running) and even eye movements can be heard while reading.
