Auxentius of Mopsuestia
Auxentius was bishop of Mopsuestia in eastern Cilicia around 321 . According to tradition, he had to leave the military because he refused to sacrifice grapes to a statue of Bacchus , despite the order of Emperor Licinius .
He is considered the builder of a cathedral in Mopsuestia for the saints Tharakus , Probus and Andronikos , who were executed in Anazarbos during the persecution of Christians by Governor Maximus around 304 .
Philostorgius calls Bishop Auxentius an Arian .
His feast day is December 18th .
