Avanduse ( Eng . Awandus ) is a former rural community in the Estonian district of Lääne-Viru with an area of 177.22 km². It has 982 inhabitants (as of 2005). On October 22, 2005 Avanduse was attached to the area of the municipality of Väike-Maarja .
In addition to the main town Simuna , the municipality included the villages Avanduse, Hirla, Imukvere, Kurtna, Kärsa, Käru, Määri, Nadalama and Võivere.
The church dedicated to the apostle Simon , after which the village of Simuna was named, is particularly worth seeing . The original building was one of the oldest sacred buildings in Estonia.
Between Avanduse and Laekvere there is a 1.2 m high stone pillar of the Struve Arch . It was built in 1849 and is reminiscent of the earth surveys that Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Struve had carried out in 1827 at the location of the column and at the nearby Võivere windmill.
