The Avanguardia Nazionale was a neo-Nazi organization in Italy . It was founded in 1960 by Stefano Delle Chiaie with the aim of overthrowing or weakening Italian democracy . In 1976 it was officially dissolved.

The origins

Stefano Delle Chiaie founded the movement after he left the right-wing extremist terrorist organization Ordine Nuovo (in German: New Order ). In doing so, he was able to fall back on experiences that he had made within the Gruppi Armati Revoluzionari (in German: armed revolutionary groups ).

The emblem of the movement

The symbol of Avanguardia Nazionale was the Othala - Rune , in line with the badge of the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division "Prinz Eugen" . The rune was depicted on a red flag in front of a white background, which evoked a direct association with the Nazi swastika symbol .

Procedure

In the 1990s, according to testimony from Giacomo Ubaldo Lauro and Carmine Dominici, criminal investigations into the movement were launched. As a result of the investigations, the authorship of the Avanguardia Nazionale in various terrorist attacks emerged, including the bloodbath of Gioia Tauro and the murder of the Anarchici della Baracca .
