Avenue of Stars (London)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Avenue of Stars , a street in London that was modeled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, was a row of five-pointed stars bearing the names of famous musicians and movie stars, opened in August 2005 . In London's tourist district Covent Garden , 100 stars were initially poured into the asphalt for legendary British filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock , Charles Chaplin , Peter Sellers , Laurence Olivier and Alec Guinness . More should be added every year. However, in August 2006 there were reports that all Stern plates had already been removed.

When selecting the honorees, they thought within the boundaries of the British Empire : to qualify for a star one must be "born in Great Britain , Ireland or a member state of the Commonwealth ".

The list of honorees on the Avenue of Stars (London) includes all the stars with a star in London.
