Avicularia juruensis ( Syn .: Avicularia urticans ) is an arboreal spider species fromthe tarantula family (Theraphosidae).
distribution
The distribution area includes Central Peru and the border area with Brazil , the Amazon region southwest of Iquitos , and the area of the Río Ucayali near Contamana.
features
In the male the carapace and chelicerae are densely hairy, on the edge of the carapace and in the fovea pale yellowish, the rest of the coloration up to the tarsal ends black, the tarsal ends pale reddish. The hairs are sometimes yellowish white at the tips, the tip coloration being less pronounced than that of the females. In the female, the hair on the carapace is pale reddish-yellow, on the abdomen it is black to black-brown. The hair on the legs is reddish with white-yellow tips, the paws of the tarsi are reddish salmon-colored. The body size reaches between 5 and 7 cm.
The spider's irritable hairs are described as very aggressive.
