Ax 'n Sex was founded as a rock band in 1990 in Kiel. On 24./25. August 1990 they played alongside the bands 5th Avenue , Motoslug , Sacret Season , Skyline and Wizzard as one of the first bands on the Wacken Open Air in Schleswig-Holstein Wacken , which claims to be the biggest day metal festival in the world. Also in 1992 and 1993 the band played at the Wacken Open Air.

In 1991 the demo Come to Join the Party with singer Suzie Lohmar appeared with four of the band's songs. In 1993 the band released a split LP with a new singer together with the bands Disaster, Just Say No, No Comment and Decay . The 1996 EP Victim of Time was the last release of the band. After the release of Victim of Time , the band broke up. The drummer Thorsten Thrunke, singer Andre Fischer and guitarist Sven Böge founded the band Ivory Tower , in which the latter is active.

The "e" in Ax fell victim to the graphic designer Ulf Carow when he created a logo in 1991. In 2014 Ax 'n Sex play again at Wacken Open Air for the 25th anniversary of the festival.
