Axalp
The Axalp is a clearing at an altitude of around 1535 m above sea level. M. is located in the municipality of Brienz in the Interlaken district of the canton of Bern in Switzerland and can be reached by post bus or car in 35 minutes from Brienz.

For centuries, the Axalp and the surrounding Alps were used from Brienz as a summer pasture area for cattle. The Alp Hinterburg is already occupied in 1275.
Today the Axalp is a winter sports area in the cold season . The ski lifts on the Axalp are operated by Sportbahnen Axalp Windegg AG . There is a chair lift (Windegg), three ski lifts (Tschingel-, Hüttboden and Dotzweg lift) and two children's lifts . The area includes 9 slopes with a total length of 15 km. The Axalp is considered child and family friendly.
Many hiking and mountain trails can be used in summer . The Schnitzlerweg leads to the Hinterburgseeli (reachable in around an hour) . Along this path there are many figures to be seen, which were cut from tree stumps by wood carvers from Brienz. They used trees that had been knocked over by Hurricane Lothar in 1999.
