Axel Anderson

Axel Anderson , actually Axel Levy , (born December 11, 1929 in Berlin , † December 16, 2012 in San Juan , Puerto Rico ) was a Puerto Rican actor .

Life

Anderson came from a Jewish family who fled to Paraguay from the Nazi reenactments . Due to the unstable situation there, they moved on to Argentina . Anderson began his acting career at the Teatro Aleman Independiente in the capital Buenos Aires , a group made up of exiles, and at off-theaters in the city. In the 1950s he moved with his own family to Colombia, where he performed on stage in Bogotá for a year , and later to the Dominican Republic . His critical attitude towards the politics of the dictator Trujillo forced him to flee again, this time to Puerto Rico.

In Puerto Rico he got his first roles in the I Love Lucy- based sitcom ¡Qué pareja! with which he quickly found success and became one of the leading television actors in the country. Titles associated with him are the telenovela Cuando los hijos condenan , one of the country's first feature films, Maruja and numerous other television titles ( Flor de café (1967), Tres hermanas para un hombre (1968), La gaviota (1969) , Mujeres sin hombre and Marcela y Marcelino (1970), Para Elisa (1972) and Por eso que llaman amor (1973)). This was followed by Los cocorocos (1975/1980), Espíritu burlón (1976), Vidas privadas (1977) and El gran destape (1978).

At the beginning of the 1960s, Anderson founded the "Teatro La Mascara" with Carlos Montalbán , which he also directed for many years. Occasionally he also played character roles in international film productions.

Anderson died of cancer in December 2012.
