Axel Filges

Axel Filges (* 1964 ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Life

He studied classical archeology, ancient history and art history at the University of Münster from 1986 to 1992; Master's degree in 1993 (The Kore types Florence and Vienna). After receiving his doctorate in Münster in 1995, he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute in 1996/1997. From 1997 to 2002 he was a consultant for classical archeology and head of the photo department at the Istanbul department of the DAI . From 2002 to 2004 he was a postdoctoral fellow in the graduate school “Anatolia and its Neighbors” at the University of Tübingen . From 2004 to 2009 he was a research assistant at the Archaeological Institute of the Goethe University . Since 2009 he has been an academic advisor at the Archaeological Institute of the Goethe University. After completing his habilitation in Frankfurt am Main in 2013, he teaches there as a private lecturer .
