Axel Sommerfeld , b. Bunke (* 1967 ) is a German engineer and former German child actor who as a leading actor in a DEFA - children's film has been known.

Life

Bunke was born in 1967 as one of five children to a family of doctors. He lived in Berlin-Buch and was visiting the Humboldt University's mathematics camp, which was set up for particularly gifted students, during the holidays , when he was discovered by director Herrmann Zschoche as the main actor in his children's film Insel der Schwans (Island of the Swans) around 1981 . In the adaptation of the book of the same name by Benno Pludra , Bunke played the youngster Stefan, who has to move from the state to Berlin to a prefabricated building area, but cannot settle in. He comes into conflict with his parents when he campaigns for his own children's playground in the dreary new development area, and finds an opponent in the brutal windbreaker, played by Sven Martinek . The film was shot for almost six months from 1981 to 1982 in Berlin-Marzahn . After the premiere of the film on April 28, 1983 at the Berlin Kino International , there was heated controversy, among other things because of the film's criticism of the state's building policy.

Before shooting began, Bunke himself had to decide between working on the film or graduating from high school. Since he had decided to shoot for several months, he had to leave school after the 10th grade despite top grades. He learned the profession of sound engineer by 1987 and then completed his army service. From 1990 to 1995 he studied classical guitar with Rainer Feldmann at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin . He married in 1995 and took his wife's surname, Sommerfeld. This was followed by a degree in sound engineering at the "Konrad Wolf" University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg.

Since then, Sommerfeld has been working as a sound engineer at Deutschlandradio . For the recording of the oratorio Requiem in E flat major by Johann Adolf Hasse , he was awarded the Golden Bobby in 2006 by the Association of German Tonmeister in the category “Vocal Music, Large Instrumentation” for particularly outstanding sound directing work.
