Aylmer Lake is a lake in the Northwest Territories in Canada . It has an area of ​​809 km². 847 km² is the total area including islands. The lake is about 100 km north of the Great Slave Lake . The Lockhart River flows to Aylmer Lake from the west and leaves it at its east end towards the neighboring Clinton-Colden Lake .

The lake was named in 1833 by George Back after Lord Matthew Whitworth-Aylmer (1775-1850), 1830-1835 Governor General of Canada .
