Ayten Erten

Ayten Erten (born May 24, 1946 in Eskişehir ) is a Turkish actress .

Life

Ayten Erten first studied theater studies and then worked as an assistant director and actress, including in a stage version of the Little Prince . She often spoke roles in radio plays and also worked for two years on the radio as a daily storyteller in children's evening programs . After their marriage in 1969, her husband, who was also an actor, received a scholarship to the Folkwang School in Essen . She followed him a little later and stayed in Germany after the divorce. Ayten Erten learned German and took up her theater studies again. At Deutsche Welle in Cologne , she received a post as spokeswoman and journalist for the Turkish service of the radio station.

In the controversial film Shirin's Wedding (1975/76), Erten portrayed the social descent of a Turkish migrant worker in Germany to become a prostitute. Thereafter, extremist circles in Turkey targeted her and was also massively threatened in Germany. After the main role in Shirin's wedding , Erten was seen in the SDR Goldener Sonntag television series and in a few smaller roles in German film productions.
