The Ayu language (also called aya ; ISO 639-3: ayu) is a critically endangered platoid language from the plateau language group , spoken by a total of 800 people from the Ayu ethnic group in the Nigerian state of Kaduna .

Ayu is still spoken in the localities of Kongon, Gwade, Tayu, Arau, Diger, Ikwa, Agamati, Anka Ambel and Amantu. Many now use English as their mother tongue, some can also speak Haussa as a second language.
