Aztec script

The Aztec script is one of the autochthonous Central American writing systems. This script had not yet reached the level of a full-fledged script when it was deleted by the Spanish conquistadors . Most of the documents were burned as the devil's work in missionary zeal. The most famous surviving document in the Aztec script is the Codex Mendoza , which is named after the first viceroy of New Spain , Antonio de Mendoza . It is now in the Oxford Bodleian Library .
