Böcüzade Süleyman Sami (born January 5, 1851 in Isparta ; † May 30, 1932 ibid) was an Ottoman politician, bureaucrat and author.

Life

At the age of 14 Sami became Hafiz . After studying in Isparta and at the Istanbul Faculty of Law (İstanbul Hukuk Fakülle), he became a judge. At 18 he became a Kâtip and began to work in the civil service in Isparta. From 1897 to 1898 he was mayor of the city. In 1899 he published the story of Isparta in the Izmir Gazetesi newspaper .

At his own request, he retired in 1911. During this time he wrote a book on the history of Isparta, which is still considered to be one of the most comprehensive works on Isparta. The original version of the first volume had 705 pages and was written in Ottoman script. The book was translated into Turkish by his grandson Suat Seren.
